Imagine your heart as an old-fashioned radio. Not the flashy kind with Bluetooth and presets—but the kind where you turn the dial slowly, searching for the right station. Some days the signal is clear and strong; other days, there’s static, interference, or noise from the outside world. But the station—the one that plays the song of your truth—is always there. You just have to tune in.
In somatic therapy, we work with the body not just as a vessel, but as a source of wisdom. Your heart isn’t just an organ pumping blood—it’s also an emotional center, often holding the clues to what you need most. But in the noise of deadlines, expectations, and endless scrolling, that signal can get lost. That’s where intentional check-ins come in.
Try pausing the noise and gently asking:
What is my heart craving right now?
Not what your calendar demands. Not what others expect. But what your inner self longs for. It might be stillness, laughter, meaningful connection, or a slow moment of solitude. The answer might come as a sensation—a flutter of warmth when you imagine calling a friend, or a drop of your shoulders when you think about taking a nap.
Honouring these small signals is self-care. Not the performative kind, but the deep, grounded kind that whispers: I matter. My needs are valid.
Let these three journal prompts guide your inner listening:
🎧 What “station” have I been tuned into lately—stress, busyness, people-pleasing? How has it been affecting my energy and mood?
🎧 When I get quiet and listen inward, what does my heart truly need today?
🎧 What’s one small way I can honour that need, even if it’s just for five minutes?
Just like tuning a radio, the process may take patience. There might be static, distractions, or uncertainty. But if you keep gently turning the dial toward presence, your heart’s message will come through.
And the beautiful part? You don’t have to wait for the perfect moment or a weekend retreat. You can tune in while sipping tea, driving in silence, or stepping outside for air.
Your heart has a frequency that’s uniquely yours. Today, give yourself the space to listen.
